This position is eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week, in accordance with DGS’s Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office two (2) days/week or more, as needed/required based on business need.
The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under the guidance of the Staff Services Manager II in the Office of Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise Services, the Research Data Specialist I independently develops and applies research methods for complex statistical and spending data analysis.
This position is primarily responsible for major statewide projects, including research, developing, redesigning and checking for accuracy statewide contract data collection, aggregation and reporting, and assessing economic impacts of Small Business/Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (SB/DVBE) rulemaking and legislation.
This position will develop research methodologies for the certification programs and perform consultative duties with state departments related to SB/DVBE participation.
The Research Data Specialist I engages in significant research projects using statistical and economic impact analysis and use software including but not limited to PeopleSoft, SAS Enterprise Guide, R, SQL Server, Power Bl, Excel, Service Now, and others, focusing on areas with limited precedents or knowledge.


This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code.
The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests.
The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment.
