ABOUT THE POSITION
Position Overview: This is a post-baccalaureate lab researcher position in the Lefevre Laboratory that studies the neural circuitry of opioid addiction. A primary emphasis is on the implementation of an intravenous opioid self-administration task in mice. We utilize a variety of methods including mouse behavior, intracranial surgery, jugular catheterization, slice electrophysiology, qPCR and transcriptomics as well as in-vivo neuromodulation approaches (chemogenetics, optogenetics and fiber photometry) to answer our research questions. This position will involve working closely with the PI to conduct experiments utilizing the approaches detailed above. The researcher will also be expected to assist the lab manager with animal colony management.

This position is based on campus. Per UMN policy, work may be done remotely when appropriate and approved by your manager. All UMN employees are expected to follow applicable public health and safety procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Research (90%)
  • Design, conduct, analyze experiments and report findings to PI. Lead projects or contribute to larger team projects.
  • Modify or develop new protocols.
  • Present data both at local and national conferencesZ

Train students and laboratory personnel (10%)
  • Mentor and teach undergraduate students in the laboratory.
