Dominion House Residence Counselor- Full Time
Dominion House is a short-term, stabilization group home located in Schenectady, NY. Responsibilities of the Residence Counselor are to provide services to adults who have a diagnosis of mental illness and living in a group home. Specific duties of the Residence Counselor included:
- Providing supportive counseling to assist in stabilizing.
- Crisis prevention skills and coping skills.
- Crisis intervention.
- Medication supervision and teaching of medication management.
- Teaching of daily living skills.
- Maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients to become independent which includes some cleaning; and
- Socialization skills and recreational activities.
- Provide transportation to clients using the agency’s vehicles.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications for the Residence Counselor include:
- High school diploma required, college classes in human services preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in helping others.
- Valid and insurable driver's license. Agency vehicles are available for transporting clients.
- Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of mental illness or other human service experience.
- Both the ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- The ability to be organized and have good time management skills.

Benefits
Salary and Schedules of the Residence Counselor positions:
- $22.08/hour; 40 hours per week; $45,926.40/annual equivalent.

Saturday 3:00pm-11:00pm
Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm
Monday 3:00pm-11:00pm
Tuesday 2:00pm-10:00pm
Wednesday 9:00am-5:00pm
Thursday Off
Friday Off
