The Mental Health Association is hiring a Residential Recovery Specialist (RRS) for our GRIT program in Holyoke, a 16-bed program dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health needs. In this role, the RRS will provide guidance and support for residents, fostering a trauma-informed, gender-responsive environment rooted in an understanding of and respect for the LGBTQ+ community. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily activities, implementing individualized treatment plan interventions, assisting residents with daily living tasks (meal prep, household upkeep, transportation), and encouraging active engagement in recovery and relapse-prevention planning.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, take initiative, follow through, and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Good oral, written, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing needs of the program participants.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patient, caring, and compassionate.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain certifications in medication administration (MAP), CPR, and first aid.
  • Must have ability to facilitate and develop a supportive community in a diverse, multi-cultural residential setting.
  • Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, acceptable driving record, and a safe reliable vehicle during working hours.

Current Open Shifts:

* Mon 3p-10:30p, Tues 2p-11:30p, Weds 3p-11p, Thurs 3p-11:30p

* Tues-Sat 11pm-7am

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.  
  • Applicable experience working with people who have been impacted by homelessness, psychiatric diagnosis, trauma, and/or addiction preferred.
