The communities of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers seek an energetic, inspiring, and creative Resource Development Associate with demonstrated fundraising experience and executive management skills to advance its ambitious regional philanthropic agenda. Serving Pennsylvanias northern tier region, CFTT hosts assets of $11 million through more than 165 distinct funds. In 2023, the Foundations grantmaking exceeded $357,000.

About the Foundation

The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) was incorporated in 2002, as a tax-exempt public charity created by and for the people of Bradford, Potter, Sullivan, Tioga counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County, New York. The 13-member volunteer Board of Directors is composed of dedicated and highly respected civic and corporate leaders. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded some $2 million in grants to community organizations in the five-county region and beyond. Now at the start of the third decade of operation, CFTT is capably implementing its strategic plan to ensure long-term sustainability and substantive impact across the northern tier region. Though faced with considerable socio-economic challenges, the region is home to active business and public service sectors, caring and generous long-time residents. The Community Foundation serves to link and actively engage donors and philanthropic partners in addressing both the needs and the opportunities across these communities. With offices located in Sayre, Pennsylvania, currently CFTT has a staff of one full-time employee, one part-time employee and contracts with Larson, Kellett and Associates for accounting and financial management services.

Scope and Purpose of Work

The Resource Development Associate is a highly visible, full-time, exempt position that provides strong, innovative leadership and assistance to the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers President in facilitating the growth and development of the Foundation through oversight of development programs including but not limited to growing an existing annual support program. The Resource Development Associate is responsible for building, implementing, and sustaining a diverse and robust fundraising plan to support the organizations annual operating budget and ensuring budget goals are met or exceeded. This position is also responsible for the management of a $3.5 million scholarship program that awards $136,000 annually. The Resource Development Associate will play a pivotal role in marketing and communications, actively contributing to strategies that enhance the foundations visibility and engagement with the community. The Resource Development Associate must also demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, clarity in communication, and respect for the interests and needs of the organization's fund holders and beneficiaries, as well as the Board, staff, and a host of community partners. The Resource Development Associate adheres to best practices and ensures that proper fundraising policies and procedures are implemented and followed. This individual must be able to work confidently and effectively in the rapidly evolving philanthropy sector and in a fast-paced entrepreneurial office.

As a professional, he/she must be self-directed, able to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, with strong attention to detail. The selected candidate will be a respected individual with strong philanthropic principles and a demonstrated commitment to community service. Position requires travel throughout the region, the ability to work irregular hours when necessary, and have reliable transportation for work related travel. Strong skills in Microsoft office suite and database management are a necessity.

Development Program

The Resource Development Associate is responsible for developing strategies to support annual fundraising needs, implementing effective special events, building financial reserves, and building support at all levels with the Board, volunteers, key stakeholders, and staff to achieve fundraising goals. This position is responsible for supporting budget development, planning, and implementing strategies and practices that identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward existing and prospective donors. This is a new position, and the Resource Development Associate can build on CFTTs existing fundraising, while bringing your own expertise and creativity to the strategies. CFTT is a financially healthy and thriving foundation, the new Resource Development Associate will help take our fundraising efforts to the next level.

The Resource Development Associate has the discretion and accountability for directing and managing CFTTs scholarship program. That includes working with donors and fund holders on all Foundation scholarship funds as well as facilitating the selection process and coordination with recipients, school districts, universities, and technical schools.

The primary focus of the role is to attract new major donors and fundholders for the Foundation, thereby expanding the capacity for grantmaking across the region as well as coordinating CFTTs scholarship program.

Principal Responsibilities

Build relationships with key donors, board members and stakeholders to support the mission and work of CFTT.

Manages a donor engagement plan to cultivate, steward and acknowledge existing and new donors.

Identifies new funding opportunities that contribute to a diverse and comprehensive fundraising plan.

Maintains individual portfolio of approximately 30-50 annual donors.

Creates personalized proposals for major individual donors for annual and restricted gifts.

Supports the President in growing the major gift program by upgrading existing donors and identifying new donor prospects that can be cultivated in partnership with the board of directors.

Actively prospects and solicits new donors and conducts donor research on existing and new potential donors.

Manages creation and execution of a comprehensive Annual Fundraising plan and works in partnership with the President to develop a coordinated Communications/Marketing Plan.

Manages planning, direction, and execution of annual fund drive and direct mail appeals, regular mailings and communications to donors and key stakeholders.

Supports cultivation of new corporate/business prospects.

Leverages existing relationships and creates new relationships to secure funding opportunities for various programs, events, or campaign-related expenses.

Coordinates and delegates grants and grant administration including communication, proposal, and reporting to foundations, individuals, corporate, government agencies and other funding institutions.

Oversees all development and event expense budgets and provides accurate monthly and annual projections.

Coordinates daily operations of development functions.

Coordinates fundraising goals and develops revenue budgets to align with organizational fundraising capacity and operational needs.

In conjunction with Information Technology Manager, confirms accuracy of all donor recognition listings.

In coordination with Information Technology Manager, develops and maintains donor relationships including but not limited to generating thank you letters, annual mail campaigns and maintaining pledges/matching gifts.

Coordinates and manages a comprehensive donor database including establishing best practices and organizational standards, updating donor records based on communication and engagement with donors, and producing reports.

Finance: Supports Accountant on financial planning to include but not limited to budget creation and ongoing revenue forecasting.

Scholarship Program

CFTT scholarship program is a well-known and respected provider of scholarships in the northern tier region. Coordination and management of this program will provide the Resource Development Associate with the opportunity to engage with the community as well as manage the program.

Coordination of the annual scholarship process with school districts.

Recruit scholarship committee members for both CFTT committees and school district committees.

Database tracking of recipients and preparing of award letters to universities and technical schools.
