Job Title: Resource Planning Specialist

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

Basic Purpose

The Resource Planning Specialist oversees and directs economic analyses for the company's electric systems. The role involves forecasting fuel and power costs, conducting complex analyses for market fundamentals, and maintaining pricing models. The specialist will make critical pricing and regulatory decisions that directly impact company policy and revenues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct research and provide complex multidisciplinary analysis to support resource planning.

Present clear and accurate reports to consultants, managers, executives, and regulators.

Maintain and operate computer models supporting major resource decisions (procurement, operations, retirements, integrated plans).

Prepare and communicate resource modeling inputs and results.

Perform ad-hoc market analysis for resource investments and commercial transaction opportunities.

Participate in stakeholder meetings, representing technical input and modeling assumptions.

Provide regulatory support for filings and prepare written testimony.

Act as an expert witness in regulatory proceedings.

Perform industry research, identifying trends for future filings.

Mentor junior staff and act on behalf of the Director when needed.

Ensure compliance with all company policies, codes, and regulations.

Skills and Certifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree

8-12 years of experience in utility production cost modeling

Knowledge of energy supply fundamentals and regional market behaviors

Proficiency with various modeling, analytical, and statistical software

Knowledge of generation, transmission, gas transportation, and wholesale power markets

Strong quantitative and project management skills

Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary: $129,800 - $152,700

Bonus Eligible: Yes (20% Annual Incentive Award Bonus)

Relocation Assistance: Possible for ideal candidate

Benefits: Full benefits package

Interview Travel Reimbursement: Yes
