May collect blood samples, conduct tests, measure lung capacities and determine the levels of gases, such as oxygen and carbon dioxide within patients lungs./ppRespiratory Care Practitioner RRT treats patients with pulmonary disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), collapsed lungs, and pneumonia. The RRT meets with patients, diagnoses ailments, designs treatment plans and conducts tests to assess lung capacity and gas levels./ppSenior Respiratory Care Practitioner treats patients with pulmonary disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), collapsed lungs, and pneumonia. The Senior Respiratory Care Practitioner meets with patients, diagnoses ailments, designs treatment plans and conducts tests to assess lung capacity and gas levels. The Senior Respiratory Care Practitioner will have at least one specialty credential such as Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS), Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT), or Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS)./ph2Responsibilities/h2pPatient Care/pulliPerforms ABG punctures according to NAH Policy./liliProvides proper concentration of pharmacological solutions and administers appropriately as prescribed by MD or licensed independent practitioner and monitors for effectiveness./liliRecords patient vital signs including breath sounds, ventilator status, mental status, and response to treatment./liliIdentifies patient and verifies orders before administration of any treatment or respiratory care to patient./liliSets ventilator parameters according to established patient protocol and doctors orders./liliPerforms/assists in the placing of E.T. tube properly, minimizing facial, oral, and tracheal trauma./li/ulpEquipment Care/pulliAssembles and disassembles, operates and maintains, troubleshoots, cleans, and performs minor repairs on equipment./liliEducates patients on therapys and prescribed medications/therapy given prior to discharge while documenting patient understanding./li/ulpAdministrative/pulliCompletes all billing paperwork./liliDemonstrates timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, EMR entries, and patient responses./li/ulpCompliance/Safety/pulliResponsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner./liliAdheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
