What You Need to Get Started Education & Experience Graduate of a CoARC‑accredited Respiratory Therapy program required As part of our career ladder, levels require different experience levels – but you can start with no experience! Senior level requires willingness to complete a project to benefit the profession, hospital, and/or unit Licensure & Certifications Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. RRTs certified after July 1, 2002 must maintain NBRC certification per NBRC guidelines. CRTs can take advantage of dedicated support, including tuition assistance, exam reimbursement, and paid study time as they work to become RRTs. Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.
