Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a top Healthcare client.
This specialist role is responsible for administering routine and non-routine respiratory care, including setting up and maintaining critical equipment such as mechanical ventilators. The Respiratory Therapist applies expert knowledge of respiratory medications, performs and interprets Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs), and communicates effectively with physicians and patients to ensure high-quality care delivery as prescribed.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver, set up, and maintain a variety of routine and non-routine respiratory therapies and equipment, including oxygen, aerosol therapy, and mechanical ventilators.
- Perform and accurately interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs) to assess patient respiratory and metabolic status.
- Administer medications used in respiratory care, applying expert knowledge of proper dosages, patient responses, and potential side effects.
- Teach, instruct, assess, and reassess patients and other staff members on respiratory care treatments and equipment use.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians, patients, managers, and the public regarding patient care plans and status.
- Recognize and promptly report any signs of abuse or neglect observed in patients to the appropriate authorities.
- Adhere to generally accepted practices in respiratory care as prescribed by the supervising physician.
Requirements
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program is required (implied by licensure/certification requirements).
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of Acute Care setting experience is required.
- Experience must be in high-acuity environments (ICU, CVICU, NICU, PICU, or Critical Care unit).
Certifications/Licenses
- Current Florida State Respiratory License is required.
- Current National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential is required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Neonate Resuscitation Program (NRP) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of respiratory medications, patient responses, side effects, and proper dosages.
- Proven ability to effectively teach and instruct others regarding respiratory care procedures.
- Strong professional communication and clinical assessment skills.
