Job Summary (List Format):
- Conduct pulmonary function tests and assess evaluations to determine respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including inhalants, mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gases, and aerosol generators.
- Perform bronchopulmonary drainage, assist with breathing exercises, and monitor physiological responses (e.g., vital signs, arterial blood gases).
- Evaluate patient progress and recommend adjustments to respiratory therapy plans as needed.
- Participate in discharge planning with healthcare team members and contribute to patient care conferences.
- Design and instruct patients, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs and recommend follow-up care or equipment.
- Document patient care services accurately in patient and department records.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment and adhere to infection-control protocols.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, coordinate repairs, and perform preventive maintenance.
- Stay current with professional knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional societies.
- Develop and train respiratory therapy staff through in-service training programs.
- Ensure compliance with legal and certification requirements and advise management on necessary actions.
- Support team efforts by assisting with related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; current licensure required.
- Prior experience highly desired.
- Skills in EMR/EHR, customer service, time management, organization, attention to detail, professionalism, and quality focus.
