The ideal candidate understands the importance of creating an exceptional experience for both our crews and guests, and can shift gears quickly in our high-volume, scratch kitchen Joints! For over 30 years, Union Joints has put the independent approach to practice at local originals like the Clarkston Union, Union General, Union Woodshop, Vinsetta Garage, Honcho, Gran Castor, Bunkhouse, Union Assembly, Mom’s Spaghetti, Union Rec, Lincoln Yard, little yard and Honcho Fuego (fka Fenton Fire Hall!). We hire on care. If you’re interested: we’ll take it from there. POSITION SUMMARY The General Manager is responsible for managing restaurant financials, sales and operational issues such as staffing and overall customer service. As a member of the management team, you will be responsible for general oversight of daily operations and restaurant management while maintaining operational excellence and demonstrating exceptional leadership behavior, as well as communicating with the owners and senior management to problem solve, recruit talent, and train team members. This role includes staff management oversight and training; ensuring food preparation is done per guidelines; maintaining the highest quality of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation at the restaurant; ensuring that customers experience a quality dining environment; maintaining a sense of team cohesiveness. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Recruiting, hiring and training new employees on restaurant procedures Coaching and counseling all employees Coordinating with Chef de Cuisine to monitor and maintain high quality guest experience and efficient service Report as directed at manager meetings Ensuring that all employees are offering excellent customer service Motivating colleagues to maintain Joint’s standards of excellence Establishing pars for LBW, N/A Bev and all supplies for FOH operation Monitoring all equipment and supplies, ensuring they are stocked as needed and being ordered according to established pars Utilizing financial tools to analyze sales, trends and performance of the restaurant Handling customer issues as they arise Conducting inventory analysis and required reporting Maintaining sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas Serving orders to customers at bar, counters, or tables, as needed Taking food and drink orders and receiving payment from customers, as needed 3-5 years high-volume restaurant experience preferred 2-4 years management experience preferred Ability to handle stress under pressure and in fast-paced situations Basic math and calculation skills Positive attitude and ability to work within and lead a team Current food handling certifications as required by state and local laws Understanding of food safety and sanitation rules PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and hot liquids.
