Job Description: Installation, repair and maintenance of RF systems and dispatch centers. RF Systems Technicians must have a working knowledge of telecommunications equipment installation and repair. Must be able to be on call 24/7 with in the needed rotation as the job requires. Must be able to travel with minimal notice when required.

Position Responsibilities: Applicant must be able to perform unsupervised tasks using technical documentation. Install, test and troubleshoot a variety of RF systems. Must be able to complete all paperwork and logs in a clear and timely manner. Ability to understand technology and keep up with emerging trends. All other duties as assigned.

In addition, applicant must be experienced and possess working knowledge in the following areas:

  • Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems.
  • Collaborate with Team Leaders and others in order to exceed customers unique needs and concerns.
  • Maintain, test, operate various brands and models of RF repeaters, antenna subsystems and microwave communications.
  • Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
  • Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure.
  • Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
  • Install, test, repair, maintain repeaters, antenna systems and other equipment for various brands and models.
  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
  • Team with engineering, project management and sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Familiar with channel Banks and T1 Circuits.
  • Provides technical expertise to the customers as requested.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle inventory and vehicle maintenance.

Qualifications

This position requires the skills and knowledge normally obtained through the successful completion of a higher level education or equivalent (technical school)

  • Must be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision.
  • Must be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.
  • Must have experience with one of the following: P25, LMR, Smartnet, SmartZone, RF infrastructure, ASTRO systems, radios and consoles.
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment.
  • Must have strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with customers and subcontractors, as well as WCI sales, engineering, project management, and service teams.
  • Technical degree or certification(s) is a plus
  • Computer and network training or experience is preferred
  • 5+ years experience desirable, e.g., military, communications, microwave, telecom, IT technician, etc.
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds and move heavy equipment
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug test and have a clean driver's record.
  • Must be willing to travel and be on call according to customer needs.
