Under the supervision of the Site Manager, the Medical Office RN performs patient triage and has patient care responsibilities in support of multiple health care providers. The RN performs clinical, technical, and clerical duties to ensure quality patient care. The RN works in collaboration with physicians, other healthcare providers, and clinical support staff within the department and with other disciplines to plan and coordinate the delivery of patient care, while demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety and age‑appropriate considerations of patients. Responsibilities include health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort, or for the dignified death of those they serve. Responsibilities Telephone triage and assessment Render patient care within the scope of training, including administering immunizations and allergy injections, performing blood draws, and obtaining height, weight, and blood pressure on all patients and documenting appropriately in the patient’s chart. Assist physicians with minor procedures. Prepare exam rooms and restock supplies. Enter required information for prescription refills properly through electronic medical record. Maintain and coordinate safe delivery of quality care for assigned patients/families. Perform systematic patient and family assessment relevant to practice settings and record related health data. Analyze and interpret recorded data to make informed judgments as to the specific problems and nursing care mandated by particular situations. Deliver care specific to the age of the patient. Use listening skills and clinical judgment in telephonic assessment of patient caller signs and symptoms severity. Evaluate effectiveness of care and adapt plan based on patient/family response. Provide physical care to appropriate patient populations, including ADL’s, positioning, transporting, and treatments; utilize and transport equipment; monitor and recognize acute changes and intervene appropriately; administer medications including blood and blood products. Establish professional relationships with nurses, physicians, and other colleagues, patients, and families. Educate patients and families about illness and treatment, including preventative measures appropriate to the patient. Support Lahey Clinics’ commitment to community‑based activities within and beyond the Lahey community. Collaborate, cooperate, and communicate with other healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care. Demonstrate responsive teamwork, teaching, regulatory compliance, advocacy within legal limits, uphold nursing care standards, commitment to lifelong learning, and evidence‑based practice. Education Graduate of a state‑approved and/or accredited School of Nursing. Experience Medical Office experience is preferred. License / Certification Current RN license to practice in the state of Massachusetts. Must maintain BLS certification. Pay Range $32.24 – $55.86 per hour (base hourly wage). Actual compensation may exceed base rate based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certification, geography, job responsibilities, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other applicable pay practices.
