Hendry Regional Medical Center, a respected critical access medical center in South Florida with nearly seventy-five years of dedicated service to the community, is a thriving, mission-driven organization seeking to hire an Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Surg Department team in Clewiston, Florida.
The Med/Surg Department RN delivers high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment. This role involves performing patient assessments, prioritizing and implementing care plans, administering medications and treatments, collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary teams, and providing education and support to patients and their families. The RN ensures that care is delivered safely and effectively, consistent with HRMC policies, state and federal regulations, and med/surg nursing best practices.

Job Duties:
RN Core Competencies:
- Formulates appropriate nursing diagnosis and establishes patient outcomes in a plan of care.
- Accepts assignments based on competency and participates in committee/project work as requested by Director.
- Assesses patient teaching needs and participates in teaching opportunities with patients and other significant individuals as indicated.
- Consistently modifies nursing care as required by changing patient needs as determined by evaluation of care administered and continued patient assessment.
- Performs technical aspects of care according to established policies and procedures; utilizes proper techniques and adopts technique to the individual needs of the patient.
- Documents and communicates patient responses and effectiveness of nursing intervention in the patient’s medical record according to established procedures as outlined in the nursing policy and procedure manual.
- Prepares and administers medications with knowledge of action, mode, side effects, and contraindications.
- Transcribes, receives, and interprets provider orders for assigned patient. Carefully documents all patient related information in medical record.
- Coordinates effectively all patient care activity involving other departments, including admissions, transfers and discharges to promote an effective flow pattern.
- Strictly follows the principles of asepsis and infection control and maintains a clean and safe environment.
- Provides for patient safety through utilization of proper equipment and use of preventative measures (i.e. fall protocol/side rails, restraints, etc.)
- Demonstrates an ability to respond and provide direction in changing workload and during crisis and emergent situations.
- Consistently demonstrates an awareness of patient rights and functions as the patient’s advocate.
- Will perform waive testing as appropriate.
- Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting work schedule in order to cover for increases in workload and staff shortages due to census, illness, or staffing needs to cover for vacancies and/or leave of current staff.
