RN Endoscopy/GI Nurse (RN Endo/GI) Rochester, NY
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 8:00 PM | On-call required for nights and weekends
Shift Options: 5x8-hour shifts or 4x10-hour shifts
Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy/GI to provide high-quality patient care throughout all phases of GI and endoscopic procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong procedural experience, expertise in conscious sedation, telemetry monitoring, IV insertion, and post-anesthesia recovery care. This role requires excellent clinical judgment, patient assessment skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient assessments and intake for GI/endoscopy procedures.
  • Educate patients and address questions or concerns before and after procedures.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and cardiac rhythms.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and conscious sedation as directed.
  • Assist physicians during endoscopic and GI procedures.
  • Recover and monitor patients following procedures and general anesthesia.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation, including procedure notes and discharge instructions.
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments, equipment, and procedural areas.
  • Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Active New York State RN License.
  • Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy/GI procedural nursing experience.
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA only).
  • Current ACLS Certification (AHA only).
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation.
  • Proficiency in conscious sedation administration and monitoring.
  • Expert-level IV insertion skills.
  • Experience recovering patients from general anesthesia.
  • Experience performing GI procedure intake and patient preparation.
Preferred Candidate Profile
  • Strong critical-thinking and patient assessment skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced procedural environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexible to participate in overnight and weekend on-call rotations.
