- Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a variety of patient conditions
- Learn all different areas of the hospital if the Emergency Department (ED) is not in holdover
- Cover patients being held until beds are available
- Float to inpatient units when not holding in the ED
- Have critical care experience, board certification, ED experience, Telemetry competency, and BLS, ACLS
- Oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments
- Prioritize patient and family needs
- Create, implement, and evaluate care plans
- Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes
- Build relationships and manage discomfort with patients and families
- Help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members
- Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan and delegate tasks
- Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff
- Achieve goals through teamwork and commit to growth
- Understand nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures
- Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines
- Proficient in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects
- Respect medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights
- Have exceptional communication skills and positive social skills
- Have excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Have basic computer skills
- Graduate of an accredited program in nursing
- Hold a current and valid nursing license
- Have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
