Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse with Postpartum experience to join our dedicated rural healthcare team in Port Lavaca, Texas. The facility is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH) designated as Level I for Maternal and Neonatal Care.

This role is ideal for nurses with strong assessment and fetal monitoring (EFM) skills, and experience in rural healthcare settings where adaptability and independence are essential. The department typically operates with a two-person team, with staff proficient in L&D, postpartum, and nursery care.

The unit averages 15 20 deliveries per month and uses OBIX as the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Shift Details
  • Shift: Nights

  • Contract Length: 14 weeks

  • Holiday coverage: Required

Requirements
  • Active RN license (Texas or Compact)

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience

  • Proficiency in EFM, postpartum, and nursery care

  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently

Certifications (Required or Preferred)
  • BLS / ACLS / NRP / STABLE

  • AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring

  • Additional certifications such as CPI, ENPC, RNC-OB, C-EFM, or TNCC are a plus

Additional Information
  • Housing availability in the area may be limited due to ongoing local construction and tourism; RV accommodations are often preferred by travelers.
