General job duties. Types of procedures required: IV starts & infusions. Foley catheter insertions & care. Nasogastric tube insertions & care. Feeding tube infusions and care. Telemetry monitoring. Head to toe assessments for med/surg patients, labor & delivery patients, and newborns. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.): Computerized charting in Epic, Fetal monitoring with Philips Avalon & Obix, Omnicell medication dispensing system, Plum A+ IV pumps, Philips cardiac monitors & telemetry Required skills and minimum years of experience: Minimum 2 years experience. Needs skills with IV starts, labor & delivery care,care of newborn, care of medical/surgical patients, care of swing bed (skilled) patients, Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc): BLS, ACLS, NRP Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?): Weekends required, variety of rotating 8 or 12 hour shifts. No call. Will work with 2 or more RN s on each shift. Floating to over units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?): Will float between med/surg and labor & delivery, newborn nursery Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.: OB unit: 4 L&D rooms that convert into post-partum, Med/Surg: 19 beds Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only): Med/Surg: Usually 1:4 or less but could be up to 1:5 on nights. L&D 1:1 for laboring mom Dress Code: Navy scrubs top & bottom Unit/department specific training and orientation program: Nurse will receive one week of orientation Additional Comments: Many of the Med Surg patients are swing bed patients or skilled which means that they recovering from an acute illness and need additional rehab or IV infusions before returning home. We have a part-time surgeon that does outpatient surgeries like appendectomies, cholecystectomies, hernia repairs that sometimes need to stay overnight. Our Labor & Delivery patients are >36 weeks and low-moderate risk only. |
Comments:12 hour shifts, variable schedule with days & nights. The weekend would not be a set rotation. OB labor & delivery and help out with low acuity medical/surgical floor patients.
