Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse Flex Pool provides safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care while floating across multiple medical and surgical units. This role requires strong clinical judgment, flexibility, and the ability to adapt quickly to varying patient populations and unit workflows.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care across assigned medical and surgical units

• Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and implement nursing interventions

• Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes in clinical status

• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and protocols

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record

Floating Assignments:

• Medical Unit

• Surgical Acute (Laulima) Unit

• Cardiovascular Unit (infrequent)

Schedule:

• 12-hour day shifts (0645 1915)

• Scheduled for 36 hours per week following completion of orientation

• No guaranteed hours

• Weekend and holiday coverage required

Unit Details & Ratios:

• Medical Unit: 77 beds | Ratios: 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)

• Surgical Acute (Laulima): 18 beds | Ratio: 1:6

• Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds | Ratio: 1:4

• Ratios may vary based on staffing needs

Equipment & Technology:

• Electronic Medical Record: Meditech

• Pyxis medication dispensing system

• Wound vacs and chest tubes

Orientation & Training:

• Unit-specific orientation provided for each assigned unit

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience (up to 10 years preferred)

Licensure & Certifications:

• Active State of Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment

• BLS (required)

• ACLS (required)

• Preferred: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC

Dress Code:

• Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs)

Additional Requirements:

• Travelers without an active Hawaii RN license must apply upon offer acceptance

• Proof of immunity required; medical and religious exemptions are not accepted
