Job Summary (List Format):
- Provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric populations in a surgical environment
- Addresses psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of perioperative care
- Communicates with surgeons and anesthesia providers regarding patient conditions
- Assists with maintenance and inventory of surgical equipment
- Ensures operating room equipment is functioning and ready for use
- Obtains supplies for individual surgical cases
- Ensures the surgical team's needs are met during procedures
- Monitors, positions, and assists patients during surgeries
- Works 6am-3pm shifts (5 x 8 hours), with after-hours as needed
- Participates in on-call rotation: 2-3 days per week, 2 weekends per month
- Requires at least two years of acute care nursing experience, with expertise in Operating Room and PACU
- Must hold current Texas RN license and certifications: NIHSS, ACLS, BLS, PALS
- Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English; additional language and computer skills desirable
- Must demonstrate age-appropriate care skills
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- Reports to the Surgical Services Director
- Must live at least 100 miles away from the facility
