Job Summary RN - PCU
(Based on provided job description, in list format)

- Facility Details:
- 241 licensed bed hospital in Shelby, NC (201 E. Grover St)
- Level 3 Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center
- Non-teaching hospital

- Unit Information:
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with 32 beds
- Requires minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience
- Open to first-time travelers

- Patient Population:
- Cares for adults not requiring mechanical ventilation
- Common diagnoses: CHF, dysrhythmias, chest pain, stroke, abdominal illnesses, infections, respiratory issues, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, etc.

- Staffing Ratios:
- Typical RN:patient ratio is 1:4 (may be 1:5 based on acuity)
- LPN: 1:4; CNA: 1:12 days, 1:16 nights

- Required Licensure/Certifications:
- Active RN license
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

- Required Skills:
- Care for tracheostomy patients
- Cardiac gtt management & rhythm interpretation
- Chest tubes, blood product administration, wound care
- Central line management

- Department Support:
- CNA support for ADLs, dayshift receptionist/HUC, charge nurse resource
- Phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Telemetry monitoring at bedside and nurses' station

- Technology/Equipment Used:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Patient Monitors: Phillips

- Floating:
- Required to float within region and scope of practice (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division)
- Paid for mid-shift travel between facilities

- Orientation:
- NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation

- Scheduling:
- Every other weekend rotation
- No on-call required
- Must work 75% of holidays; up to 6 days RTO allowed (not including holidays)
- 6-week scheduling cycle

- Other Notes:
- Scrub color: Navy
- Free parking
- Family-oriented unit culture
