Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an RN Trauma Ortho/Neuro Med Surg (Charge) for a top Healthcare client.
This leadership role is responsible for coordinating and delivering specialized, high-acuity nursing care to a patient population recovering from trauma, orthopedic, and neurosurgical procedures on a Medical-Surgical unit. The Charge Nurse oversees the daily workflow, mentors staff, and utilizes advanced clinical and decisive judgment to ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient unit operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Assume charge responsibility, leading daily unit operations and delegating assignments to nursing staff based on patient needs and staff competency.
- Provide direct, high-quality patient care, specializing in the complex assessment and management of trauma, orthopedic, and neurological conditions.
- Utilize advanced critical thinking skills and decisive judgment to respond to acute changes in patient status and manage clinical emergencies.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, emergency departments, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient flow and continuity of care.
- Mentor and provide constructive guidance to staff nurses, promoting adherence to best practices, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, clinical status, and unit activities in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Perform frequent standing, bending, and lifting of patients and equipment, requiring physical stamina for demanding shifts.
Requirements
Education
- Nursing Diploma or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of RN experience is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of Charge Nurse experience in an acute care setting is mandatory.
- Experience caring for Trauma, Orthopedic, and Neurological Medical-Surgical patients is essential.
Certifications/Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida or a compact state is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred; required within six (6) months of hire.
