Job Description

The Rope Access Coordinator serves as the subject matter expert at the Lab level and acts as a representative of the MISTRAS Rope Access Center of Excellence. They are responsible for the safe and efficient execution of industrial rope access work carried out by the rope access teams. This position is responsible for oversight and compliance to all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards. Adherence to MISTRAS and client safety programs is paramount. Excellent communication skills with management, the client, other contractors and employees is required for this position.

Major Responsibilities/Position Summary

  • Ensure all MISTRAS Rope Access Technicians operate in accordance with MISTRAS Rope Access Procedures and relevant company, customer and industry standards.
  • Work in the field as a Rope Access Supervisor.
  • Consistently demonstrate and promote adherence to company and client procedures and policies, including but not limited to safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Manage the rope access quality, safety and training programs in collaboration with management and the MISTRAS Rope Access Center of Excellence (COE).
  • Create a positive and constructive team environment that integrates well with other MISTRAS teams and contractors.
  • Forecast personnel and equipment needs based on anticipated workload.
  • Schedule and optimize productivity of rope access activities in collaboration with other departments.
  • Audit, review, write and/or approve safety plans (SWP/FLHA), work plans and rescue plans.
  • Mentor and orient new rope access team members and recommend candidates for rope access training up grades.
  • Participate in the performance assessment process of rope access team members.
  • Lead or contribute to various meetings (e.g., scheduling, weekly staff, production, campaign kick-off, or daily safety meetings).

  • Assist with administrative tasks in support of rope access including approval of time entries, estimating work orders, managing logistics, establishing the work schedule and tracking rope access training and recertification records.
  • Responsible for documented equipment safety inspections and inventory counts along with anticipating equipment needs.
  • Possess and demonstrate strong working knowledge of rope access techniques, safety standards, and governing rules.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns to appropriate site management personnel in a timely manner.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for area of responsibility to the Lab management and COE.
  • Capture, distribute, and archive industry updates, bulletins, and other supportive documentation to the team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current certification as a SPRAT or IRATA Level III required.
  • One (1) year of experience as a certified rope access technician.

Current, unrestricted driver’s license with ability to drive, fly by airplane, or travel as needed.

  • Pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check.
  • Willing to work in an office environment as necessary.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Maintain a calm presence in the face of stressful circumstances or difficult conversations.
  • Effective public speaking experience in front of large groups of customers and employees.
  • Flexibility regarding scheduling (open to working nights or days).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
