We are hiring a Safety Auditor-Railroad for one of our clients in Ewing, NJ.

Job Description:

Railroad transportation professional with audit experience, Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program certificate/enrollment preferred. In a team, auditing internal controls or involvement in risk management & report writing.

  • We are looking to fill a part-time, remote, position with most hours occurring around four planned safety audits in 2025 and 2026; the projects begin with documentation review, followed by a week of on-site auditing, and leading the written audit report. This position can lead to additional work being assigned on an as-needed basis.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Documentation review, assessment and analysis
  • Development of audit questions and checklists, identifying potential areas of concern;
  • Field verification of adherence to policy/procedures;
  • Collaboration with auditing team;
  • Lead developer in preparing audit report.

Skills required:

The Safety Auditor- Rail shall, at a minimum, have knowledge, skills, and abilities in some of the following:

  • Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as related to construction and maintenance;
  • Current federal regulations involving railroads or transit;
  • Safety administration or construction safety inspection;
  • Transit System Safety;
  • Hazard Management Programs;
  • Rail safety management in commuter rail, light rail, or heavy rail (subway);
  • Regulatory agency experience.
  • Organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills, MS office including TEAMS, Excel, Word, SharePoint and Outlook

Education required:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent college coursework in business administration, engineering, project management, or administration, safety, or related fields;
  • Experience in a transit agency environment;
  • Experience monitoring and investigating job site safety practices, or adherence to state and/or federal regulations, or enforcement; and
  • Experience auditing of internal controls.

Work hours:

  • Work Hours: Per Assignment
  • Lunch Hours (Unpaid): 12-12:30
