Position Overview
An established demolition and sitework contractor is seeking a highly qualified Safety Director to lead the organization’s health, safety, and environmental initiatives. This role is responsible for building and sustaining a strong safety culture across all demolition operations through continuous program development, training, compliance oversight, and on-site support. The ideal candidate is proactive, passionate about safety, and committed to promoting safe behaviors and work practices across the organization.


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, FMCSA, HazMat, and all applicable regulatory standards related to demolition activities; remain current on regulatory changes and communicate operational impacts.
  • Develop, update, and deliver demolitionspecific safety training programs, including OSHA, MSHA, DOT, HazMat, and internal safety curriculum.
  • Administer all company safety programs and procedures, including incident reporting and response.
  • Review projectspecific demolition means and methods; provide expert guidance to identify the safest and most efficient approaches.
  • Lead demolition field safety initiatives such as incident investigations, best-practice sharing, orientations, discipline programs, safety days, and recognition programs.
  • Conduct scheduled field audits and safety reviews on demolition projects; document findings and communicate action items to the Management Team.
  • Provide regular reports to leadership outlining safety concerns, new initiatives, and regulatory updates.
  • Oversee use of safety technology tools, analyze data trends, and develop corrective action plans to reduce incidents.
  • Write and train teams on SiteSpecific HSE Plans.
  • Support estimating and preplanning efforts, providing input on safe demolition practices.
  • Read and interpret plans to identify safe execution strategies and contribute to the Job Hazard Analysis process.
  • Facilitate newhire onboarding including orientation, training, and testing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Overnight regional travel required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing safety for largescale demolition projects.
  • Degree in a safety, engineering, or construction-related field preferred; certifications such as CSP, CHST, OHST, or OSHA 500/510 are beneficial but not required.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problemsolving abilities with proven success navigating highpressure environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of building construction, architecture, and demolition methodologies.
  • Proficiency with computers and safety-related technology tools.
  • Selfmotivated, positive, and passionate about advancing safety culture.
