About your role:

We are seeking a Safety Manager to join our team at Heat Tech Industrial. You This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties working directly for the HTI HSE Director, Project Managers, and Construction Managers to support projects while reporting on key safety performance indicators. The Safety Manager is also responsible for the implementation and oversight of HTI HSE program  as well as site-specific safety program(s).This position will assist, mentor,  and direct the site teams on safe work requirements and best practices to complete the job tasks as safe as possible.

Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities

  • Visit projects for site walkdowns to observe employees as they work, identifying any potential safety hazards or infractions. Corrective actions will be taught in a mentoring manner to eliminate potential hazards as soon as possible.
  • Train HTI personnel to be aware of and recognize potential hazard and how to best mitigate them
  • Participates in safety orientations/toolbox talks when on site to ensure employees have retained information.
  • Observes employees working in the field and requests Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to verify proper documentation is completed.
  • Interacts with employees and coaches them on any safety issues noted from audits.
  • Handles all incident or accident investigations and completes all necessary steps throughout the process including investigating, collecting statements, performing root cause analysis, and summarizing the findings.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Work Hours:
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.


40-Hour Work Week

Monday through Friday, hours may vary with the workload.

Evenings/Weekends/OT

As needed to satisfy the requirements of the position.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education required.
  • OSHA 500 and CPR/First Aid Trainer preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory/management experience required.

Type of Experience Needed to be Successful

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills to propose mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Work requires rich communication and frequent interaction.
  • Willingness to lead, take charge, offer opinions, and listen to feedback.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as other software required to execute daily tasks.
  • Ability to independently make decisions and direct work for projects and daily workflow.

Supervisory Expectations:

  • The position has immediate oversight of team members most of the time performing the same or directly related work as those the position leads. This position does not have any direct reports but oversees management of the site.

Independence of Action

  • Results are defined; the successful candidate sets own goals and determines how to accomplish results with few or no scheduling guidelines to follow. Supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction as well ownership of overall HSE program.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

The work environment is the typical construction environment. The employee must complete their work satisfactorily in an environment with significant distractions including staff, clients, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephones ringing, conversations, loud noises, and interruptions. Must be able to drive to sites or meetings with clients.
