Shirley Parsons is partnered with a leading data center client in need of an experienced Safety Manager to support a large-scale construction project in the Ashburn/Chantilly/Sterling, VA area. This role is ideal for a hands-on safety professional with strong data center or mission-critical construction experience who can lead site safety efforts and drive a proactive, compliance-focused culture in a fast-paced environment.Start Date: ASAPDuration: 6+ months (with potential for extension)Schedule: ~50 hours/week (overtime eligible)Location: Ashburn/Chantilly/Sterling, VA areaKey ResponsibilitiesLead and manage all on-site safety operations for a complex data center construction projectServe as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters on sitePartner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to enforce safety expectations and accountabilityConduct daily site walks, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and client standardsDevelop, implement, and continuously improve site-specific safety programs and proceduresReview and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Method Statements, and Permits to WorkLead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actionsDeliver safety orientations, training sessions, and daily toolbox talksTrack, trend, and report key safety metrics (KPIs) to internal and client stakeholdersEnsure proper documentation of inspections, audits, incidents, and corrective actionsMonitor high-risk activities including LOTO, energized work, working at heights, confined space entry, and heavy liftsCoordinate and lead weekly safety meetings with subcontractors and project leadershipPerform pre-task planning reviews and verify hazard controls are in place prior to work activitiesEnforce PPE compliance and site-specific safety requirements across all tradesSupport client audits and third-party inspections, ensuring readiness at all timesMentor and coach field personnel and junior safety staff to strengthen overall site safety cultureInterface with client EHS teams to align on expectations, reporting, and compliance standardsReview subcontractor safety programs and verify alignment with project requirementsAssist with emergency response planning, drills, and incident preparednessIdentify leading indicators and proactively address potential risks before incidents occurQualificationsProven experience in a Safety Manager role supporting data center or large-scale construction projectsStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practicesExperience working in fast-paced, multi-trade environmentsExcellent communication and leadership skillsAbility to influence and build a strong safety culture on siteBCSP certification (CHST, CSP, ASP) preferred
