Fast Growing construction company is looking for a highly qualified Safety Manager to develop, lead, and implement all safety programs across cross functional units. The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role carries primary ownership of regulatory compliance, safety leadership in the field, and continuous improvement of safety performance across all operations. The Safety manager is expected to maintain strong working knowledge of California safety regulations, including Cal/OSHA Title 7 CCR, and to act as a visible, respected safety leader within active job site environments.Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide functional guidance and direction to field supervisors and employees regarding safety practicesSupport foreman and project managers in implementing safety requirementsCoordinate with HR and management on safety-related employee mattersCoach foreman and supervisors through one-on-one engagement to improve hazard recognition, job planning, and safe work executionEstablish credibility with field personnel through consistent site presence, practical guidance, and respect-driven leadershipEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain company-wide safety manuals, programs, policies, and procedures, including full ownership of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in accordance with CCR 3203Serve as the primary point of contact for workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses, including coordination of response, reporting, and follow-upConduct monthly safety meetings and assist foreman with tailgate and toolbox talk topicsPlan, coordinate, and conduct annual safety training programs to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvementEnhance, manage, and deliver new hire safety orientation programs, ensuring all onboarding documentation and training records meet regulatory requirements Track, schedule, and document all required safety training and certifications throughout the year, with clear expectations for training completion and refresher complianceParticipate in pre-job walks, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and site-specific safety planningPerform regular job site audits, inspections, and field visits to ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCR RequirementsIdentify hazards, evaluate safety performance, recommend corrective actions, and conduct follow-up assessments with emphasis on measurable incident reduction and risk mitigationCreate, implement, and maintain workplace Health & Safety Plans and Emergency Action Plans; serve as the primary emergency contactInvestigate accidents, incidents, and property damage events; prepare reports and recommend preventative measuresManage OSHA recordkeeping, including OSHA 300/300A logs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory defensibilityInspect tools, equipment, and machinery to identify unsafe conditions and ensure proper use, including oversight of crane, rigging, and lifting activities where applicableLead and conduct accident preventions and safety training programs, including heat illness prevention in accordance with CCR 3395 and confined space awarenessSupport project management teams by providing on-site safety guidance and compliance supportOversee driver safety and regulatory compliance, including DOT requirements and California BIT Program compliance, in coordination with the Fleet ManagerUpdate and manage third-party compliance systems such as ISNetworldCollaborate with HR Team on workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs, and employee safety mattersPromote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, leadership, balancing field leadership with administrative accountabilityMiscellaneous Duties: Support operations and management with planning, forecasting, and workload coordinationAssist with continuous improvement initiatives related to project execution and client serviceParticipate in internal meetings as required Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)Minimum of 3 – 5 years of safety management experience in operational field-based environmentsStrong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards, including Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCRExperience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigationsDemonstrated experience serving as a Safety Officer or Competent Person on active job sitesExcellent communication, training, and organizational skillsAbility to travel regularly to job sites and work in active field environmentsProficient in Microsoft Office and Safety management systems Preferred Qualifications:OSHA 30-hour certification (Construction or General Industry)CHST, CSP, ASP, CHST, or other safety certifications from accredited bodies such as BCSP, NFPA, NSC, or OSHA Trainer credentials strongly preferredExperience with ISNetworld, Refinery requirements, Avetta, or similar compliance platforms Knowledge of environmental, confined space, heavy equipment, and high-risk work activities safetyDemonstrated ability to lead safety programs within field-driven environments where credibility and site presence are essential
