Safety OfficerGloucester Marine Terminal, a growing marine facility located in Gloucester City, New Jersey, is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Officer to join our safety program and ensure a safe, compliant work environment across all operations.The Safety Officer is responsible for helping to develop, implement, and manage the terminal workplace safety programs, training employees, conducting inspections and audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies. This individual will collaborate closely with terminal operations leadership and report directly to the Safety Manager, Gloucester Terminal.Key ResponsibilitiesPromote a strong safety culture through training, communication, and accountability.Help with the planning, scheduling, and conduct safety training sessions and new hire orientations.Participate in safety meetings, site inspections, and internal audits to ensure compliance.Identify workplace hazards, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution.Maintain training records and incident documentation.Administer and enforce the terminal's drug and alcohol testing program.Collaborate with departments to assess and meet safety training needs.Conduct safety inspections aboard vessels, in warehouses, on the waterfront, and throughout terminal facilities in all weather conditions.Minimum QualificationsOccupational Safety, Industrial Management, Environmental Health, or related field experience.3+ years of safety experience, preferably in maritime, terminal, or heavy industrial environments.Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, training standards, and compliance practices.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to learn terminal-specific software platforms.Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).Strong time management and organizational skills; self-directed and dependable.Preferred QualificationsOSHA 30-Hour certification or other safety credentials (e.g., CHST, CSP).Experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis.Working knowledge of safety practices in a port or marine terminal environment.Compensation & BenefitsPay Rate - $20-$28 an hour commensurate with experience.Medical, dental, and life insurance coverage401(k) retirement plan with company contributionPaid vacation, holidays, and sick leaveEqual Opportunity EmployerGloucester Marine Terminal is an equal opportunity employer.
