VarcoMac's Safety team has an immediate need of a Safety Officer. This position provides advice and guidance to company management as well as field employees in keeping the company compliant. The ultimate goal of the Safety Department is to create a zero-injury working environment. This is done by creating an appropriate level of knowledge, awareness, and preparedness throughout the entire company regarding effective safety practices and balancing overall associated costs. This position is 100% field work.Responsibilities:Prepare and modify documents including presentations, reports, drafts, memos, and emailsCreation of and maintaining of spreadsheets - various projects in Microsoft ExcelMay require travel to various job sites throughout the Southern Maryland, DC, Northern VirginiaAssist with conducting accident/incident investigations and prepare to correlate documentationAssist project management in conducting safety orientations and onboarding of union employeesPost and keep current all required safety documents and literaturePerform site safety inspections to document deficiencies, leading and lagging indicatorsProvide administrative support to managementQualifications:1 - 3 years in construction safety experience desiredExperience with union workforce preferred but not requiredHigh proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate stop work actionA clear understanding of the Company mission and valuesAbility to lift 30lbs, walk 4-6 flights of stairs daily and walk continually for 60 minutesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detailSalary Range: $25.00/hour to $28.00 No sponsorship is available for this role.About LegenceLegence is a leading provider of engineering, consulting, installation, and maintenance services for mission-critical systems in buildings.
