Hiring Range: $38,134-$52,625

Job Duties

Catawba Hospital located in Catawba approximately 15 miles from Roanoke, Virginia is a Joint Commission accredited inpatient psychiatric facility with 110 beds that provides comprehensive mental health services including assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
The Hospital located in Roanoke County, serves adults, ages 18 64, and geriatric adults, ages 64 and older.
Individualized treatment is provided through interdisciplinary teams, which include: psychiatry, internal medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, adjunctive therapy, pharmacy, and dietary services.
Off-unit programs in a newly-designed treatment mall emphasize psychiatric rehabilitation, recovery from mental illness, and re-integration into the community.
Catawba is a highly-respected teaching hospital affiliated with several local colleges, as well as, the University of Virginia School of Medicine.


Catawba has a full time position available and part time positions for individuals interested in working with a psychiatric population.
This position is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment for patients on the unit.
Duties include; providing supervision for recreation, consistently observing and redirecting resident behavior in a non-confrontational and professional manner; engaging in interactions and behavioral interventions that support the patients individualized treatment plan and follow the recovery model; document activities and ensures all oral and written reports are factual, professional and clear.
In addition, this position accounts for patients and equipment, as directed within facilitys posted orders and policies.


Any overtime worked will be paid at one and one-half times the regular hourly rate of pay.

Ability to work shifts as assigned
Working knowledge of conflict resolution and knowledge of appropriate de-escalation and resolution techniques
Demonstrated ability to handle conflicting job demands and prioritize appropriately
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multiple audiences


Additional Considerations

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Associates Degree in Human Services
Previous work experience in a behavioral health facility
Previous security experience
