Job Title: Safety Specialist Location: Oklahoma City, OK Industry: Transportation / Logistics Pay: $60,000–$70,000 annually Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). About Our Client: Addison Group is partnering with our client to hire a Safety Specialist who will support driver safety initiatives and regulatory compliance within a transportation environment. This role focuses on improving driver performance, reinforcing safe driving habits, and maintaining high safety standards across the fleet. Job Description: The Safety Specialist is responsible for monitoring driver performance, coaching drivers on safe driving practices, and supporting safety and compliance programs. This role combines remote driver coaching through a fleet safety platform with phone consultations, in-person driver evaluations, and administrative safety support. The ideal candidate has experience within the trucking or transportation industry and enjoys working directly with drivers to promote safety and improve performance. Key Responsibilities: Monitor driver activity and safety data using an electronic logging and safety monitoring platform Provide coaching and feedback to drivers to reinforce defensive driving behaviors and reduce safety incidents Conduct phone-based coaching sessions with drivers following safety events or performance trends Perform road tests for new drivers during onboarding and conduct periodic driving evaluations for current drivers Partner with recruiting teams to collect and verify documentation required for Driver Qualification Files to ensure regulatory compliance Inspect and maintain safety equipment such as first aid kits and fire extinguishers at office and shop locations Support safety audits, training initiatives, and compliance-related activities as needed Stay up to date on DOT and FMCSA regulations and assist with maintaining transportation safety compliance Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in safety, transportation, or a related field preferred Previous experience in trucking safety, fleet management, driver training, or transportation compliance strongly preferred Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or driver safety platforms; experience with Motive is a plus Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations including driver qualifications, hours of service, and safety compliance Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively coach drivers and provide constructive feedback Valid driver’s license required; Class A CDL preferred or willingness to obtain Comfortable conducting road tests and working in both office and operational environments Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing compliance documentation Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal teams Additional Details: Role combines administrative safety support with direct driver interaction Opportunity to contribute to driver training, safety improvements, and regulatory compliance efforts Position supports both office and operational environments Perks: Competitive salary and benefits package Opportunity to make a direct impact on fleet safety initiatives Collaborative and supportive work environment Career growth opportunities within the safety and compliance field Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
