Safety Specialist

Join our dynamic startup team as a Safety Specialist at GLOVIS EV Logistics America LLC. This vital role involves collaborating closely with our management team to ensure the effective implementation of safety and security policies, procedures, and programs. We are seeking a proactive professional with strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of safety and security practices, and a commitment to enhancing organizational success. This position is onsite, with hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, including a one-hour lunch break.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, and maintenance requirements, aligning with local regulations.
  • Develop and maintain health and safety management systems, training programs, and procedures in line with current legislation. Conduct regular safety inspections.
  • Design and update health and safety procedures, offering technical support to employees. Coordinate risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize accidents.
  • Investigate accidents, manage insurance claims documentation, and liaise with relevant organizations.
  • Deliver safety training programs, ensuring all employees receive proper training. Represent the company at safety meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety and security incidents. Coordinate with construction companies for record-keeping and oversee related tasks.
  • Develop and implement safety policies for construction sites and building maintenance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement to address accidents and investigate security incidents.
  • Work with operational teams to enhance the working environment and recommend safety improvements.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with security requirements, local regulations, and logistics-related security.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and address hazards. Manage documentation for material handling equipment.
  • Provide oversight of facilities management.
  • Stay informed about security, facilities management, and safety best practices, technologies, and trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred (Architecture, Construction-related, Occupational Health and Safety) or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum 3 years of construction and/or occupational safety experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA 30 and OSHA 100. OSHA 30 and OSHA 100 certification is a plus.
  • OSHA 10-hour or Basic Knowledge of Plant Safety and Current First Aid/CPR First Responder Training desired.
  • Familiarity with machinery and equipment used in maintenance, warehousing, and on construction sites.
  • Experience in risk management, personnel protective equipment, construction safety, injury and incident investigation, reporting, auditing, and training for construction operations.
  • Proficient in PC use, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and be flexible with on-call and off-shift hours as needed.


This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including a laptop computer and cell phone. The employee is generally required to spend long periods of time sitting, typing, and working at a computer. May require the ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and transport items. The estimated base salary range for the Safety Specialist is $55,700-$61,600. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that GLOVIS EA reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
