Trimble is on a search for our next Sales Engineer. This person will join the AECO sales organization supporting Trimble Construction One. We are looking for a self-motivated and technically skilled individual who offers substantial mechanical contracting domain knowledge combined with directly relevant mechanical estimating experience and technical software skills. Trimble is the leading supplier of mechanical estimating software solutions and services to mechanical specialty contractors in North America. Our products include Autobid, Estimation, and Trade Service solutions. Trimble MEPs software products are driving digital transformations in building construction. What You Will Do

Common duties for this position include inspirational presentations, complex prototype demonstrations and follow-up support during the sales process. This position works closely with the sales management team, as well as members of the direct and customer sales teams. The sales engineer will help ensure that Trimble products are represented accurately and that individual client questions or concerns are effectively addressed.

  • Work closely with and support the Americas mechanical estimating software sales team by assisting with sales presentations/demonstrations.

  • Consult with prospects to help them determine which software solutions best fit their business.

  • Use your extensive software and industry knowledge to present critical success factors. These factors validate the software solutions presented.

  • Deliver complex client-specific cross-application prototype presentations.

  • Assist with various demonstration-deployment strategies across the Trimble MEP workflow solutions.

  • Provide consulting expertise in understanding and addressing the needs of executives (i.e. CEO, CFO, COO, etc.) Provides MEP industry expertise to address client issues and facilitate the sale.

  • Work directly with Trimble consulting by documenting process gaps, product issues, reporting requirements and a myriad of other solutions/workarounds.

  • Maintain adequate knowledge base for Trimble Construction One workflow solutions.

  • Help maintain the master software presentation library and sales tools.

  • Serve as the internal technical liaison between Sales and Product Management to ensure that the product management team has input from both sales and customers to help guide product development.

  • Support regional and national marketing and industry trade association initiatives and events.

More Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver technical sales presentations and software demonstrations using Trimble MEPs mechanical estimating software solutions to solve customer pain points as it relates to their trade specialty: plumbing, mechanical pipe, and sheet metal

  • Assist Account Executives in understanding the more technical aspects of Trimble MEPs mechanical estimating solutions and how they solve specific customer problems

  • Participate in educational webinars for customers on the operation and use of Trimble MEPs mechanical estimating solutions

  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and product functionality

  • Keep up-to-date with market trends and new developments in the MEP industry

  • Create and maintain detailed and current customer records using salesforce.com

  • Routinely and regularly meet with the Trimble MEPs product management team serving as the voice of the customer to provide valuable and thoughtful input, feedback, and technical MEP domain support

  • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information to refine and improve selling strategies and enhance marketing

  • Attend sales and trade meetings, and read related publications in order to obtain information about market conditions, business trends, and industry developments

  • Support industry associations to promote Trimble MEP solutions

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • Bachelors degree in a construction-specific degree plus in-depth experience in the mechanical estimating space or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive knowledge in Trimble Autobid and/or Estimation, or a similar mechanical estimating software.

  • Deep experience working in the MEP trades

  • This position requires up to 25% travel. Successful candidate will be willing and able to meet travel requirements. A valid drivers license, good driving record and the ability to qualify for a US Passport are required. The ability to qualify for a company credit card or possession of a personal credit card with sufficient limits to charge travel expenses is also required.

  • Be comfortable and productive working out of your home in a home office environment that is conducive and suitable.

  • There is some travel required in this role (up to 25%) - including travel to attend sales events, trade shows, visit strategic accounts and other regional sales trips to support the wider team
