POSITION SUMMARY The Sales Manager (SM) works closely with the Valence operations, finance and quality teams to develop and grow existing customer bases and new customers within each Valence location in the assigned geographical area. The SM will coordinate with the respective Regional Business Development Manager to close additional opportunities brought from within or outside the assigned geographical area. The SM will supervise estimators and inside sales representatives to ensure prompt and accurate responses to customers’ requests for quote. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Oversee all request for quotation (RFQ) activities across the assigned Valence locations Report customer quote follow up feedback Distribute and prioritize internal sales efforts based on customer needs and assign to Estimators and Inside Sales Representatives as appropriate Supervise, lead, mentor, coach, and guide site Estimators and Inside Sales Representatives in support of internal sales efforts and employee development Lead all sales order to production order transition from external sales team as part of the Valence New Business Integration (NBI) process Review and utilize Pricing Tool, CRM and KPI measurements to guide and focus efforts to drive performance and results Deliver year-over-year growth in revenue/margin for the existing customer base to meet both annual and long-term growth expectations of Valence Collaborate with Customer Service Managers on customer retention improvement thru the use of surveys and scorecard reviews Develop and sustain relationships at all levels of Valence’s customer base Ensure that the value of Valence’s solutions are clearly understood and effectively communicated to Valence’s current base. Identify areas where Valence can offer differentiated and complete solutions over competitors. Contribute to the collection of competitive intelligence and subsequent competitive analysis Assist is the negotiation of pricing agreements and quotation validity Review and recommend improvements to existing business strategies based on customer feedback Other duties as assigned SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: High School diploma. Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) a plus. Experience: 5 plus years of demonstrated success in complex sales and business development activities. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization (internally and externally). Business knowledge of Aerospace Defense customers and requirements. Knowledge of surface treatment solutions and how to align with Customers’ drivers. Ability to motivate account managers and operations resulting in aggressive growth of business. Direct sales, operations or sales management experience.
