About the Position The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production lines, production equipment, and other facility areas according to the Master Sanitation Schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform general cleaning throughout the facility, including but not limited to air vents, light fixtures, restrooms, lunchrooms, offices, silos, exteriors, and floors. Clean and sanitize mixers, hoppers, ovens, silos, vents, and other equipment as directed. Perform intense COVID-19 cleanings of specific areas as directed. Disassemble and reassemble equipment using the correct tools and following proper procedures to prevent equipment damage and to ensure the equipment is cleaned properly. Provide suggestions to improve processes and procedures in support of company goals. Adhere to all requirements to maintain a safe workplace, including wearing the necessary protective equipment (PPE). Monitor inventories of sanitation equipment and chemicals, and report low stock to the department supervisor. Learn and execute common food handling safety requirements. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skill Requirements 1+ year of sanitation experience; bakery and/or food & beverage manufacturing environment experience strongly preferred. Ability to interact with others in a professional, tactful, and sensitive manner. Effective communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer literacy skills and the ability to update facility maintenance systems. Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed. HazMat certification is a plus. High School Diploma or GED. Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the Sanitation Technician is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The Sanitation Technician frequently is required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Sanitation Technician to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is regularly performed in a combination of bakery and shop environments.
