Job Title:- SCCM & Azure Patch Management Engineer Location: Remote Duration:6+ months Job Description: The SCCM & Azure Patch Management Engineer will be part of the Desktop team to support application packaging & OS deployment as well as other commercial off the shelf products such as Google Chrome, Adobe, JAVA Products & Azure based Infrastructure.
The Engineer will act as one of the points of contact between the Desktop Team for technical support regarding packages and SCCM/Azure deployments.
Develop and implement comprehensive patch management strategies for OnPrem servers and workstations & Azure-based systems to ensure timely and effective application of patches and updates.
Monitor and evaluate patch releases, security bulletins, and vulnerability assessments to identify potential risks and prioritize patch deployment.
Establish and maintain patch deployment schedules and ensure minimal disruption to system availability during the patching process.
Monitor and assess Onprem & Azure cloud environments to identify and prioritize patch requirements based on security vulnerabilities, criticality, and business impact.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, developers, and security professionals, to establish patch deployment schedules and procedures and ensure minimal disruption to system availability during the patching process.
Coordinate with vendors and third-party service providers to obtain the latest patches and updates for Azure-based systems and applications.
Test and validate patches in non-production environments to ensure compatibility, functionality, and system stability before deploying them to production environments.
Configure and maintain patch management tools and systems to automate the patch deployment process, streamline workflows, and improve efficiency.
Monitor and track patch deployment progress, ensuring that patches are applied within designated timelines and compliance requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation of patch management processes, security configurations, and incident response procedures.
Prepare and present regular reports on patch management activities, security incidents, and compliance status to management and relevant stakeholders.
Provide clear and concise technical documentation and guidance on patch management and security procedures to assist system administrators and end-users.
Perform regular audits and vulnerability assessments to identify patching gaps, non-compliant systems, and areas for improvement.
Respond promptly to critical patch releases and security advisories, taking immediate action to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities.
Stay up to date with the latest trends, best practices, and advancements in Azure patch management and security practices.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of Four (4) years of experience Proven experience in SCCM & Azure cloud environments, with specific expertise in Azure patch management.
Solid understanding of patch management principles, methodologies, and tools.
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services, including Virtual Machines, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, and Azure App Services.
Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows and Linux) and associated patching mechanisms.
Experience with patch management tools such as Azure Update Management, WSUS, BigFix, SCCM, or similar solutions.
Familiarity with cloud-native security tools and services, such as Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Splunk, or Azure Log Analytics.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Relevant certifications, such as SCCM Certified/Azure Administrator Associate or similar, are a plus.
