A school is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to provide dedicated nursing services during their summer session in Bangor, Pennsylvania. This contract position runs from July 6 to July 30, with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The role focuses on supporting student health, managing illness and injuries, and promoting wellness in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and treat student illness or injuries and administer first aid as necessary
- Deliver preventive health services that support students physical, mental, emotional, and social development
- Educate students, families, and staff on health-related topics
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with students and parents regarding health concerns
- Implement and document the schools health programs in accordance with district policies
- Foster a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff
Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN or RN) certification
- Educational Specialist certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid Instructor certifications
- 3 to 5 years of nursing experience preferred, with a focus on pediatrics, school nursing, or related areas
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, and reach as needed
- Effective communication skills including vision, hearing, and speech capabilities
- Ability to safely lift or carry 10 to 25 pounds
- Mobility to move independently throughout school facilities and event sites
