Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A School Nurse position is available for a summer contract in Bangor, PA, focused on providing preventative health services and supporting student wellness during the summer session. This onsite role operates Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, spanning July 6 through July 30.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate student illnesses and injuries, administering first aid as necessary
- Deliver preventive health services to promote students physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing
- Educate students, parents/guardians, and staff on relevant health issues
- Maintain clear and regular communication with students and parents/guardians concerning health matters
- Implement and manage the school health program, ensuring accurate health documentation
- Foster a safe and healthy environment conducive to student participation in school activities
Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN or RN) in Pennsylvania
- Certification as an Educational Specialist from the Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid Instructor certifications
- 3 to 5 years of nursing experience preferred, ideally in pediatrics, school nursing, or related disciplines
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, and reach throughout the workday
- Effective communication abilities, including vision, hearing, and speech
- Capability to safely lift or carry 10 to 25 pounds
- Mobility to independently navigate school buildings and event locations
