Job Title School Wellness & Safety Coordinator Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Coordination: Develop and oversee a comprehensive regional wellness strategy aligned with state and federal guidelines. Coordinate mental health and wellness programs across multiple LEAs. Telehealth Implementation: Design and manage a regional telehealth infrastructure for school-based mental health services. Ensure compliance with privacy and security standards (HIPAA, FERPA). Screening and Intervention: Implement standardized mental health screening protocols for early identification of student needs. Collaborate with school counselors and administrators to connect students to appropriate interventions. Training and Crisis Prevention: Lead professional development for educators on crisis prevention, intervention, and school safety, including CSTAG (Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines). Facilitate child abuse prevention training for school communities in the region. Serve as a resource for trauma-informed practices and emergency response planning. Collaboration and Advocacy: Act as a liaison between schools, families, and external mental health providers. Advocate for student wellness and mental health equity across the region. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field. Current Utah licensure as one of the following: Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) Minimum 3 years of experience in school-based mental health services. Knowledge of crisis prevention, school safety protocols, and trauma-informed practices. Preferred Qualifications Experience implementing telehealth programs in educational settings. Familiarity with rural education challenges and multi-LEA coordination. Strong leadership and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including school administrators, counselors, mental health providers, and community partners. Experience facilitating cross‑agency teamwork, building consensus, and leading collaborative initiatives across multiple schools or districts. Proven skills in partnership development, including the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships that support regional wellness goals.
