Full Time (80hrs per f/n) + monthly ADO's Grade 1 Scientist – $63,674.00 – $91,785.20 + Superannuation Located at The Alfred Great Staff Benefits – 5 Weeks Annual Leave & Salary Packaging Permanent opportunities available About The Team The Alfred Pathology Service (APS) provides a comprehensive range of pathology testing, consultation services and collection services to clinicians and patients of Alfred Health. The Microbiology unit provides diagnostic services for a range of infectious diseases and supports trauma and emergency services, organ transplantation (especially heart and lung), HIV‑related diagnostic services and bone marrow transplantation services. About The Role Alfred Health’s Microbiology Department has a temporary full‑time position for a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist. Based at The Alfred hospital, the role involves performing microbiology testing according to documented laboratory protocols within acceptable time frames. The successful candidate will participate in all shift rosters, including evenings, weekends and overnight. Key requirements include experience in diagnostic Microbiology tests, excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Duties Perform all routine laboratory tests without supervision (after suitable training). Perform other duties as directed. Be familiar with the use, care and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for routine procedures. Participate in internal and external quality control programs. Collaborate with senior staff in method development. Skills & Experience BSc or BAppSc with a major in Microbiology (overseas qualifications require evidence of assessment by the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists). Experience in the performance of diagnostic Microbiology testing, including specimen set‑up, culture reading and interpretation. Good attention to detail. Good communication skills. Ability to function well in a team environment. Ability to organise own work to ensure time frames are met. Benefits Salary Packaging & Novated Leasing through Maxxia.
