Job Description
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification and minimum 2+ years Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A healthcare facility with more than 900 licensed beds and Level 1 Trauma and Pediatric Trauma designations seeks an experienced Surgical Technologist for a contract assignment in Concord, NC. This Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital offers advanced specialties including cardiac, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgery, oncology, and reconstructive plastics. The surgical suites handle 70-100 cases daily, providing a dynamic and challenging environment for highly skilled surgical technologists.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain operating rooms for complex surgeries including cardiac, neuro, orthopedic trauma, minimally invasive, robotics (DaVinci XI), and microsurgery cases
- Assist surgical teams during procedures with sterile instruments and equipment
- Proficiently handle head/neck free flaps and plastics reconstruction
- Collaborate closely with clinical supervisors, charge RNs, anesthesia teams, and OR assistants
- Utilize EMR systems (EPIC), IV pumps (Alaris), and med dispensing systems (Omnicell)
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training
- Respond promptly to on-call requirements with a one-hour response time and occasional weekend shifts
- Adhere to scheduling expectations including night shifts (1900-0700) and holiday coverage (50% of holidays)
Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center (no Level III or below accepted)
- At least 3 years experience in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases
- Graduate of an accredited surgical tech program; BLS certification required, CST preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in ortho trauma, cardiac cases, microsurgery, and head/neck free flap procedures
- Experience with robotics and complex surgical techniques
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts: 1900-0700, Wednesday through Friday night guaranteed
- On-call rotation and weekend call approximately every 6-8 weeks (0600 Saturday 0600 Monday)
