Assignment Start Date: 12/18/2024

Facility Salary: $43,680.00 to $53,248.00

Looking for a CNA in Hot Springs SD who will be responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to patients, and assisting in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in a manner that is in keeping with the philosophies of the facility and the nursing department.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs patient care activities including answering call lights, serving and collecting food trays, feeding patients as needed, measuring and recording food and liquid intake, and all output including drainage systems as ordered. Performs activities of daily living, i.e., dresses and undresses patient, bathes and performs personal care to include oral hygiene, pericare, foley care, backrubs, and shaving in a manner consistent with maintaining patient privacy and dignity.
  • Performs routine treatments/procedures including warm and cold applications, and assists RN/LPN with complicated treatment procedures. Collects specimens, i.e., stool, urine or sputum. Takes and records vital signs, weight,s and height.
  • Provides general nursing care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in the use of bedpan and urinal commodes, and ambulating patients.
  • Assists in preparations of units, patient rooms, and beds for receiving patient admissions, transfers, emergencies, and discharges. Assures patient rooms and work areas are clean and safe.
  • Maintains established facility and department policies, procedures and objectives, fire, safety, environmental, quality assurance, hazardous material, and infection control policies. Knows personal role in fire drills.
  • Attends required meetings, in-services, and educational programs; keeps up to date on posted information, notes, and minutes
  • Serves on nursing service committees as requested.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of CNA experience required

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registration:

  • Must have certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant through the South Dakota Board of Nursing or
  • Must have current South Dakota Certification

EMR System: Point Click experience preferred

Shift: Days and Nights two 8's and two 12's

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to fulfill the expectations of this position as indicated in the measures of effectiveness and meet the physical requirements of the position as defined in this role summary.
  • Mechanical lifts, telephone equipment, carts, wheelchairs, positioning devices, mechanical beds, resident beds, thermometers (digital, glass, tympanic), stethoscopes, blood pressure equipment, and other resident care equipment as deemed necessary.
  • Support the health center's vision and mission. Maintain confidentiality of all work information.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to function successfully in a team environment. Exhibit courteous, compassionate, and respectful treatment of internal and external customers. Displays a positive attitude and flexibility in changing situations. Participates in identifying problems and suggesting solutions.
