Qinetiq has an immediate opening for mid to senior level satellite to ground integration engineer to serve as the SDAs Tranche 1 satellite to ground integration subject matter expert. The candidate will provide technical expertise to government program managers across multiple satellite vendor designs. The candidate will review designs, test procedures and provide feedback and recommendations to ensure individual satellites will meet SDAs architecture needs. The candidate will use their experience in satellite and ground operations to ensure the system will meet requirements. The SDA will incorporate their knowledge to ensure multiple vendors software and hardware designs will be successfully integrated through a common ground operations control station.

Responsibilities:- Participate in and evaluate hardware in the loop and software in the loop testing to ensure satellite to ground interoperability
- Participate in and evaluate onboard satellite applications as they are developed to ensure compatibility before being uploaded to the satellites
- Ensure satellite designs are tested against planned testing procedures
- Ensure satellite designs meet system requirements
- Evaluate and participate in satellite to ground tests
- Support the SDAs Tranche 1 Program Management and Systems Engineering team
- Responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the satellite testing procedures and processes for multiple vendors
- Review engineering documents and provide SME support
- Provide technical advice/input to customers System Program Director that lays the strategic foundation for critical, national capability and customers future initiatives
- Resolve highly complex and multi-dimensional problems requiring consideration of variables that impact multiple aspects of the project/program
- Evaluate vendor flight software performance and assess its compatibility with new mission and CONOPS
- Work with manufacturing engineers to support installation onto the hardware-in-the-loop test environment and eventual flight hardware
- Participate in anomaly resolution activities and assess existing flight software solutions
- Contribute to the development of systems- and mission-level modeling and simulation tools
- Develop software models of payloads for ground testing
- Support working groups, both internal and with customers and/or vendors
- Assess the software impacts of new hardware, conops, and missions
- Supporting requirements management and analysis, interface management, architecture development and test and evaluation processes
- Incorporate Joint Warfighter, Mission Partners and internal SDA teams feedback and input on product strategy and identify the best path to improve efficiencies
- Collect and analyze feedback from end-users, stakeholders and other teams to shape processes
- Support application product managers and coordinate cross-functional teams (i.e. Government, Military, SETA, FFRDC, UARC, & Industry)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or relevant technical discipline
- Minimum of 8 years experience in ground based hardware in the loop, software in the loop and flatsat testing
- Technical and analytic understanding of satellite testing processes
- Understanding of satellite acquisition and operations technology best practices
- Agile framework familiarity

- Masters degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline
- Experience DoD and or IC customers
- Active TS/SCI clearance
