JOB DESCRIPTION:

Free Cycles is seeking helpers as we transition to the busy bicycle season. Seasonal positions available from approximately end of March/early April to end of September. Our ideal candidate would be available 36 hours per week (9:45-6:15). Scheduled days will be Wednesday through Saturday, including an hour staff meeting at the beginning of each week before we open to the public.

*Part time help, weekend help, and internships may be available for the right candidate.

The positions will have various duties. Primary duties will be greeting people upon arrival to the shop, teaching our BikeWell classes, cleaning and tidying shop grounds, assessing bicycle issues, setting up and take down community work stations each day, helping people learn about bicycles and sustainable transportation, fixing bicycles and organizing bicycles and parts.
The right candidate will be excellent with people and possess outstanding communication skills. Familiarity with bicycles and/or bicycle mechanics is a plus, yet not a must. Ability to work with and support diverse populations, particularly those who are considered vulnerable is critical.

The ideal candidate would be able to:
-Strive to ensure a welcoming, inclusive, and safe atmosphere in the shop
-Understand the complexities of working as a community organization
-Stay organized with a calm and collected attitude
-Remain flexible to meet Free Cycles team needs and community needs
-Enjoy helping people of all backgrounds and bettering the community through Free Cycles' overall mission

-Rely on pedal power in their daily life
