What is a Park Ranger Assistant?
We recruit for the Park Ranger Assistant positions each year.
These positions generally work during our busiest time of year, April through September, when visitors flock to enjoy our beautiful parks.
However, each park is unique, and the duration of seasonal positions varies slightly from park to park.

What you will do:
As a Park Ranger Assistant at
Tumalo State Park
, you will assist year-round State Park staff in the protection, maintenance, operation and repair of state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems.
In this role, you will perform a variety of park operational tasks such as: janitorial work, landscape maintenance, safety, and visitor services.
Some work may require the most elementary skills in: building trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and landscape maintenance.
Additionally, specialize skills in park maintenance and operations may be required.
On a task specific basis, you may guide the work of individuals or teams composed of volunteers, seasonal, and/or temporary state park employees.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Six (6) months of experience (paid or unpaid) performing public contact or customer service duties (e.
    g.
    Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.
    ) and/or maintenance experience (construction trades, landscaping, custodial, etc.
    );
OR
  • Six (6) months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours).
Special Requirements:
  • To be hired, you must have a criminal records and driving records check that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment.
  • You must have a valid drivers license at the time of hire and throughout employment.
