Job Description – Security Officer (7463-3060) Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel. Makes periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors and premises. The duties described herein are minimum standards and may be modified to meet the changing needs of the patient and our healthcare facilities at any time. Performance Standards In addition to the daily job tasks, this position is held responsible for other minimum performance standards. This position contributes to a world class patient and family experience, understanding that every single patient deserves our undivided attention every single time. To do this, it is necessary to provide a welcoming environment for every customer that enters our system. This is accomplished by clear communication (verbal and non‑verbal) and by greeting each customer with a smile and appropriate eye contact. This position is responsible to take ownership of his/her work area, which includes the cleanliness of the physical surroundings and attentiveness to the needs of the people waiting for care and services. Lastly, this position is responsible for explaining our processes to those who have chosen us to provide their care and services. This is accomplished by using the principles of AIDET: Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank you. Having an “owner mentality” regarding your role in the patient and family experience is crucial to your success. Qualifications Education / Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Previous related experience is strongly desired. Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers. Skills / Abilities Knowledge of or ability to learn operations and procedures. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form. Effective team member and professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances. Courteous telephone manner. Adaptability to changes in the external environment and organization. Write routine correspondence, including logs and reports. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide high quality customer service and interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures. Other Requirements All applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle record acceptable to the company’s auto liability insurance carrier. Physical Requirements Much walking is required during normal duty shift. Position requires mobility, bending, occasional lifting (5–50 lbs), stooping, standing and sitting. Seeing, hearing, speaking and writing clearly to communicate with employees and clients, and to observe and report incidents. Potential exposure to inclement weather. Must be physically fit and alert; eye‑hand coordination and finger dexterity are required. Moderate to high stress level; may involve physical exertion during stressful encounters with challenging individuals. May have to restrain individuals or deal with resistance on a daily basis. Must remain calm, develop priorities, and continue to function effectively during stressful situations.
