THE POSITION
Do you enjoy working outdoors? Do you like working with your hands? A semi-skilled laborer position at Raccoon Creek State Park may be the job for you. Raccoon Creek State Park is looking for a positive individual who strives to keep the park facilities in good working order for the safe, enjoyable recreation and relaxation of our park visitors.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position involves performing various manual tasks in construction and maintenance within a state park. The primary responsibility is to repair buildings and facilities using a range of tools from carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other building trades. Additionally, the role involves operating and assisting in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment used throughout the park. As part of the maintenance work, you will be responsible for constructing simple forms for cement work using carpenter tools. You will also be involved in mixing and placing cement, as well as finishing it using mason tools. Another aspect of the job includes laying stone and block walls. Ground maintenance is another important aspect of this role. This includes tasks such as mowing or cutting weeds and grass using a riding mower, hand mower, or weed eater. You will also be responsible for cutting firewood, picking up litter and trash, and loading and moving materials in dump trucks or pickup trucks. Other duties include cleaning grills, sweeping paved areas, digging holes and ditches, and cleaning drains and culverts. In addition to the above responsibilities, this position will also be involved in site preparation, seeding, and establishing new turf areas. You will also be responsible for planting and maintaining trees and shrubs within the park. Lastly, the role includes painting and/or staining park buildings, signs, gates, and other structures. This ensures that the park maintains a visually appealing appearance. Overall, this position requires a range of skills and tasks to ensure the proper construction, maintenance, and upkeep of the State Park.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Seasonal Full-time employment without benefits and no option to buy into healthcare benefits through the employer. - Seasonal position is from April to December
- Work hours will vary.

This is a 24/7 operation, will work 5 out of 7 days in a week, may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. - Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
