Overview and Responsibilities


The Senior Account Executive is an essential role within the Teren structure, with a primary objective of retaining and growing client accounts. This role requires a self-starting, organized, and well communicated individual that is versed in sales strategy, client relationship management, product, and industry knowledge, and possess strong negotiation and deal closing skills. Additionally, you should be a conduit between the commercial market and the internal teams.


Technical Skills


  • Prospect, develop, and close contracts for a specified geographic territory and/or vertical.
  • Build, maintain, and report on a high-performance sales pipeline; create and nurture a positive and professional image.
  • Utilize solution selling strategies to determine client needs; communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Travel to client sites, attend conferences/trade shows, perform discovery sessions, and coordinate demonstrations for potential clients.
  • Document sales activity with prospective clients; manage sales opportunities, activities, and sales pipeline.
  • Produce contracts and develop quotes with potential clients.
  • Provide leadership, strategy, and input and activities to respond to Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Requests for Information (RFI) from prospective clients.
  • Conduct competitive and market research; maintain knowledge of competitive products.
  • Support ongoing organizational improvement efforts and maintain good interdepartmental relationships.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the industries Teren serves, including trends, business practices, financial measurements and performance indicators, and key competitors. Lends expertise and assists with special projects as needed.
  • Encourage teamwork among the revenue teams.


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Client acquisition and relationship management; identifying accounts and stakeholders.
  • Sales strategy and execution to meet revenue targets.
  • Market analysis and business development with a focus of ensuring Teren solutions continue to meet the needs of clients served.
  • Product knowledge of the Teren solution suite, and the ability to work with clients to fill the needs.
  • Customer success to ensure ongoing client satisfaction, and ability to provide supporting information to the teams internal to Teren.
  • Reporting and administration to maintain accurate records of sales, revenue, invoices, and client information.
  • Client advocacy and the ability to suggest innovative methods to increase sales and enhance clients' experience.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with a demonstrated understanding of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), spatial data and data sciences. Demonstrated ability to apply business acumen with natural sciences and technology.
  • 5+ years' experience in technical or software field sales and integration efforts.
  • Must have experience selling in Fortune 500, Federal and State government arenas.
  • Proven sales track record that demonstrates consistent success in meeting or exceeding quota.
  • Knowledge of project management, team building, budgeting, and solutions selling.
  • Proficient in Google Drive or MS Office Suite.
  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient with CRM software - Hubspot/Salesforce.
  • Significant experience with large volume sales, preferably selling a software application/solution or comparable advanced technology product/service.
  • Polished presentation skills.


Location & Travel

  • This is a remote position serving across North America.
  • Travel will be required. Typical travel is 50% for most reps. Actual travel may vary based on location. Must have a valid driver's license.


The Important Stuff

  • Exempt Position
  • Base salary of $130,000-$150,000 with commission variable 75%+ (no cap)
