Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Terrell, Texas. This is 100% onsite. The role involves managing financial records, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly proficient in Excel, and capable of working independently while collaborating with the finance team. This is a 4-month contract position that requires the Senior Accountant to work onsite in Terrell, Texas 5 days a week.
Senior Accountant (contract position):
Responsibilities:
• Maintain and update spreadsheets for capital assets and grants from the previous fiscal year.
• Perform electronic bank reconciliations for approximately 40 accounts, focusing on two major funds and several smaller ones.
• Track and document capital asset activities, including purchases and adjustments, within organized spreadsheets.
• Collaborate with the audit firm to complete audit processes and schedules.
• Manage grant-related activities, including tracking prior-year grants, recording new grants, and processing reimbursements or drawdowns.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables to analyze and organize financial data.
• Communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure accuracy in reporting.
• Work independently to meet deadlines while receiving guidance and support from the Director of Finance.
• Ensure compliance with municipal accounting standards and practices.
• Proven experience in bank reconciliations, including handling multiple accounts and funds.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate pivot tables.
• Experience with Tyler Munis is preferred.
• Familiarity with accounting processes related to capital assets and grant management.
• Knowledge of audit procedures and experience collaborating with audit firms.
• Ability to manage financial records for municipalities or similar organizations.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with team members.
• Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and data management.
